Predicting WWE Survivor Series

With Seth Rollins’ shocking injury a golden opportunity has arisen for four of the WWE’s top superstars. For Alberto Del Rio, Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, Survivor Series will now be their chance to ascend to the top of the company as its new WWE World Heavyweight champion. Who will capture the title? Also, will The Undertaker’s 25th anniversary celebration be a happy one, and what else can we expect from this year’s event?

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Semi-Final
Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio may have returned with a stunning, clean victory over superstar John Cena last month, but unfortunately his hot streak will hit a wall against Roman Reigns. Like it or not, Roman Reigns is here to stay and the WWE’s top prize is in his immediate future. The Mexican superstar should give Reigns a stern test, and hopefully a match that will help get the former Shield star over a little more with the yet-still unconvinced hardcore crowd, but he won’t be progressing to the main event this time.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Semi-Final
Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens

If executed correctly and given enough time this matchup could be a real gem. Ambrose and Owens are easily two of the most popular superstars with the more smarky viewers; two performers who should remain a part of the WWE’s main event scene for years to come. Both would look pretty in the main event slot, but Ambrose figures more likely given his relationship with Reigns. Owens will be incredibly tough to defeat, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he manages to injure his title rival either during the match or immediately following it.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose

Dolph Ziggler vs. Tyler Breeze

At last, Tyler Breeze has been given a shot at the big time. After nearly five years down in developmental the promising superstar makes his PPV debut...against the man who many have compared him to since he assumed the Breeze gimmick. Laughably predictable booking! Breeze spent an awfully long time in NXT putting talent over, something Ziggler has become quite accustomed to in the big leagues, but a win here should be the newcomer's reward for helping the next crop of developmental superstars. Breeze to cement his place as a fully fledged WWE superstar with a victory. For Ziggler, another disappointing loss. Things have definitely not gone to plan since his star-making performance in the main event of last year’s event.

Prediction: Tyler Breeze

Traditional Survivor Series match
Team New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, Rusev, Sheamus & King Barrett) w/ Xavier Woods vs. Team Usos (The Usos, Ryback, Cesaro & Neville) ???

An absolute shot in the dark here given the fact that WWE have yet to announce a single participant in this year’s match. Remember when Survivor Series was all about these matches? The above is just a mashing of superstars without a place on the card as of writing. The New Day will almost surely make an appearance and should be considered dead certs to be in the match in some form. The Usos too are riding on some great form since their return so their place in the match should be assured. The rest of the spots however are pretty murky. With this configuration a face victory makes the most sense, but I could be super wrong! After all, what the hell will The Dudley Boyz be doing during all this?!

Prediction: Team Usos ???

Divas Championship
Charlotte © vs. Paige

Let’s quickly touch on that Raw promo. Absolutely disgraceful. Whoever was responsible for trying to insert such cheap heat into a perfectly good feud needs to be examined. End of. Moving on. Charlotte versus Paige has the potential to be an excellent new chapter in the ‘Divas Revolution’ (Are we still using that?). With both the champion’s reign and the feud still in its infancy, a Charlotte win should be the most likely outcome. Paige could try to exploit her rival’s emotion to score the win and steal the belt, but that’ll probably come much later in a programme that will more than likely continue beyond this event.

Prediction: Charlotte

The Brothers of Destruction vs. Bray Wyatt & Braun Strowman

On Sunday night The Undertaker will have been in the employ of the WWE for a quarter of a century; a stunning run that will probably never be replicated ever again. Teaming with his longtime partner/rival Kane to take on Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, The Deadman has been booked in the perfect match to celebrate his incredible tenure, while also protecting him sufficiently for one final match at next year’s Texan-based WrestleMania. There should really only be one outcome here: The Undertaker and Kane will meet resistance in the powerful Wyatt Family duo, but they will ultimately overcome their rival team to cap off a fantastic night in which we honour one of the WWE’s greatest performers.

Prediction: The Brothers of Destruction

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final
Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose

While not 100% guaranteed, the meeting between Reigns and Ambrose in the final is undeniably the most logical, most popular choice. The two have history stemming from their days as members of The Shield and their excellent chemistry together has already been proven in a number of respectful skirmishes since the trio split last year. There are a multitude of potential outcomes, but I think this should serve as a perfect opportunity for Reigns to make the switch to the dark side and align himself with The Authority. It could just as easily be Ambrose, but Reigns remains a much better option as the WWE’s prototypical superstar. The WWE loves itself a good Survivor Series twist, and this year’s instalment will be no different. Believe that!

Prediction: Roman Reigns
